TEACHING STATEMENT

During my Conservatoire studies as a performer I always tried to almost scientifically study piano technique and sound production at the instrument. I became more and more interested in how a musical image translates into body movement, bringing to an effortless production of a colourful and expressive sound. Essential to the depiction of a clear musical image, reading music notation should be focused on the physical meaning of speed, character, dynamic of the object of performance.

These principles can be observed in the so called "Russian" approach to piano technique, described in the book "The Art of Piano Playing" by Henrich Neuhaus: "the condition sine qua non for a good tone is complete freedom and relaxation of the arm and wrist from the shoulder to the tips of the fingers..".

I was fortunate to meet my teachers in the UK, Belgium, Hungary and Italy, which not only inspired me to pursue a music career, but also showed me an example of the joy of mentoring and educating to music. I aim to make all my students experience feeling at ease at the instrument and to learn and make music with an enjoyable, rewarding outcome.

I enjoy teaching children and adults of any level, and strongly believe in the importance to tailor the message to the individual I am working together with.

My teaching experience also embraces methodologies from Kodaly Method and Gordon's Music Learning Theory.

 REVIEWS

GEORGE

“ I have the pleasure to work with Simone for more than two years. Simone is an exceptional piano teacher and I am really inspired working with him. I’ve improved my technique massively and gradually building my repertoire of my favourite classical pieces. I’ve entrusted Simone to teach also my little daughter to her first piano journeys. My daughter is also very pleased and enjoys Simone’s approach to early years on piano learning. I am very confident that both me and my daughter will reach our short and long term musical goals under Simone’s leadership.”

STUART

"I have recently decided to start learning the piano at the tender age of 44. I was a little apprehensive but Simone almost immediately made me feel at ease with his easy going manner and personable nature. Learning so far has been a fun and engaging experience. Although I am at the very beginning of the journey, some technique and musicality seems to have been learnt without too much conscious effort. This entirely down to his teaching style, where there is always method in the madness and I am learning without "learning". His enthusiasm and passion is infectious. I couldn't have asked for a better teacher".

SARA

"Simone is an engaging, supportive and enthusiastic teacher. He is always professional and on time. My daughter really enjoys his lessons and it is great to see how she has grown in confidence on the piano".
